Have you gone yet? What a cool place! Especially when it is FREE! A couple of weekends ago, Ms. Cheap (I love reading her articles in the Sunday paper) gave a heads up that Cheekwood Art and Gardens was free for the weekend. Since we were already up at church on Sunday, we packed a picnic lunch and went afterwards (they have picnic tables on the grounds).
Unfortunately, it was rainy and cold but we put on our rain jackets and broke out the umbrellas and walked around anyways (why do you feel more of a need to do something if it is free?).
The Cheekwood's were a couple who lived in a mansion (which is now an art museum, and you can check it out while you are there) among beautiful gardens that the husband created for his wife.
The grounds are gorgeous (wish I had gotten married up in TN...this place would have been my pick), and I saw it when it was rainy and cloudy so I can only imagine what a restful, colorful place to visit when the weather is cooperating. There are gently cascading waterfalls and creeks and plenty of foliage to admire.
Until Nov 1st, they have 65 scarecrows around the grounds for you to look at.
Keep a lookout for free weekends at the gardens :)

sometime just the 2 of you will have to make a trip to Tenn to renew your vows and have a lil ceremony there!! it will be beautiful and you can or cannot invite your maid of honor!! whatever!! ha
